Meet the Team

Mostafa Gulam

Managing Director

Mostafa's key skills include:

  • Deep understanding of Fares and Ticketing systems and processes. Including interoperability with different transport operators, modes and local authority schemes.

  • Complex enterprise wide systems and architectural design.

  • Providing clear and concise advice, documentation and presentations to stakeholders at all levels from suppliers, operational rail staff, senior management within rail, CIOs and IT Directors of owning groups, civil servants (including senior civil servants) and Ministers.

  • Full life cycle of systems changes and procurement, including contractual negotiations, financial control, project management activities (previously Prince2 Practitioner qualified), assurance activities and final signoff before go live of systems/services.

  • Operational design and implementation.

  • Production of specifications for the procurement of systems and services.

Mostafa has over 20 years of highly specialised fares and ticketing experience in the UK as well as internationally. Over the more recent part of his career, he has been providing:

  • Strategic vision, direction and introduction of new Ticketing technologies in the public transport industry. This included the modernisation of back office fares and ticketing system for Smart Ticketing, Thin Client Retailing, Account Based Ticketing, closed loop smartcards, contactless EMV (Open Loop Ticketing) and Barcode ticketing; and

  • Close working and extensive engagement with stakeholders such as transit agencies/operators, national and regional transport authorities, in respect of ticketing technologies and their funding.

Alison Pilling

Business Director

Alison has over 20 years’ experience in the transport industry including behaviour change projects that encourage the use of public transport. Over recent years, her work has concentrated on improvements in transit payments, retail and customer information, from project inception to delivery.

Alison's key skills include:

  • Customer proposition development

  • Stakeholder management and collaborative working, especially for programmes with complex multi-agency governance 

  • Wide operational experience in transit including knowledge of school and college transport and ticketing; information and marketing

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of business case development

  • Broad Programme Management experience

  • Public sector procurement support

  • Commercial acumen

Steve Ramsay

Technical Director

Steve has over 15 years of highly specialised fares and ticketing experience in the UK as well as internationally.


He specialises in the design, development and delivery of ticketing solutions in public transport, gained from working for a range of clients that includes transport operators (Transport for London, Transport for Greater Manchester and Arriva), transport statutory bodies (Transport for the North), central government (Department for Transport) and ticketing system suppliers (Cubic).

Steve's key Skills include:

  • Implementation of fares policy into card-based and account-based business rules and logic

  • Account-Based transaction (Tap) processing

  • Payments, including contactless acceptance, scheme transit rules, PCI DSS

  • Customer websites and app functionality

  • Transit risk assessment 

  • Revenue Apportionment

  • Financial reporting 

  • Revenue Assurance
